Personalized medicine is één van de grote beloftes voor de geneeskunde. De gangbare en evidence-based behandelingen zijn immers gericht op de gemiddelde patiënt in een randomized controlled trial, en niet op het individu. Het belang van een persoonsgerichte benadering wordt inmiddels breed beschouwd als de route naar effectievere behandelingen. Naar inzicht in wat werkt voor welk individu en op welk moment. Is dat echt zo? En hoe ziet personalized medicine er dan uit in de psychiatrie? Zijn er alleen maar kansen of ook bezwaren, of zelfs gevaren? In dit symposium delen we de meest recente inzichten op dit gebied.
